Even though his family didn’t earn much, they had a decent amount to build a house by a fishing village in Santa Isabel, Barrio Velázquez, Puerto Rico. As a young as fiver years old, he used to play catch by an alley close to his home which caught the attention of a neighbor who suggested him to enroll in a youth league. His skills in hitting were noticed and he was assigned as a first baseman. His father used to train him everyday during their leisure time. During the age of seven, Carlos had continued his brilliant performance in Santa Isabel’s Playita Cortada American Baseball Congress affiliate, hitting about 150 home runs.
