She was handpicked and appointed by the University of Santo Tomas (UST) to play for their high school varsity volleyball team, the UST Tigress Cubs, after honing her volleyball skills in the Southern Tagalog Athletic Association (STACAA), a local sports meet for elementary and high school student-athletes in the Calabarzon region. She was chosen as a part of the National Capital Region (NCR) team for the Palarong Pambansa, a major sports competition for elementary and secondary students, in her first year at the University of Santo Tomas Junior High School.
