Taylor Kitsch was born on April 8, 1981, in Kelowna, British Columbia. His mother’s name is Susan (Green) who worked for the BC Liquor Board. Whereas, his father, Drew Kitsch used to work in construction. His parents had already when he was one year old. He was raised with his two older brothers, Brody and Daman. They were in the custody of their mother who raised them in a mobile home park. He additionally has two younger maternal half-sisters. Kitsch used to live in Port Moody and Anmore. He completed his education at Gleneagle Secondary School in Coquitlam. Kitsch began playing ice hockey at age three. He has also played junior ice hockey for the Langley Hornets in the British Columbia Hockey League. He had to end his career due to a knee injury in 2002. After his injury, Kitsch took nutrition and economics courses at the University of Lethbridge for a year. He lived with his brother.

Kitsch travelled to New York City in 2002 when he received an opportunity to pursue modelling with IMG. Alongside modelling, he studied acting took up a carer as a nutritionist and personal trainer. For a period of time, he was homeless and slept on subway trains in New York. Though in 2004, he relocated to Los Angeles. Here he modelled for Diesel and Abercrombie & Fitch.
In 2006, Kitsch was cast in his debut role on the NBC sports teen drama television series called Friday Night Lights. Kitsch portrayed the role of Tim Riggins for five seasons. The series was quite famous and was well acclaimed. He played the role of Pogue Parry in The Covenant, alongside his co-stars Steven Strait, Sebastian Stan, Laura Ramsey, Toby Hemingway, Jessica Lucas, and Chace Crawford.
Taylor Kitsch was cast as Gambit in the X-Men franchise spinoff X-Men Origins: Wolverine in February 2008. The movie was released in May 2009. Later in 2010, Kitsch starred in Steven Silver’s The Bang Bang Club.
