She is from the hamlet of Goria in the Haryana district of Jhajjar. Ram Kishan Bhaker, her father, is a chief engineer in the Merchant Navy.
Bhaker excelled in various sports such as Huyen langlon, a Manipuri martial art, as well as boxing, tennis, and skating till the age of 14, earning gold at national competitions in these categories.

In Guadalajara, Mexico, for the 2018 International Shooting Sport Federation World Cup. Bhaker defeated Mexico’s Alejandra Zavala to win the gold medal in the Women’s 10-meter air pistol. In the final match, Bhaker scored 237.5 points versus Zavalaa’s 237.1. Bhaker became the youngest Indian to win a World Cup gold medal.
Bhaker earned her second World Cup gold medal in the 10-meter Air Pistol mixed team event. She was matched with Om Prakash Mitharval, a fellow countryman. Sandra Reitz and Christian Reitz scored 475.2 points, while the duo shot 476.1.
Commmonwealth and Asian Games
Bhaker qualified for the finals after scoring 388/400 points in the women’s 10m air pistol qualification round at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She won the gold medal in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games by establishing a new Commonwealth Games record of 240.9 points in the final round.
In the qualification round of the 25m Air pistol event at the 2018 Asian Games, she set a game-high score of 593. She did not, however, win a medal there, finishing sixth in the final. In the end, her compatriot Rahi Sarnobat took gold in this event.
She won gold in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the 2019 ISSF World Cup in Delhi in February 2019.
Olympics Career
She won the women’s 10m air pistol event with a score of 236.5 points at the Youth Olympics 2018. The Indian flag bearer at the Youth Olympics opening ceremony is also a World Cup and Commonwealth Games gold champion. Manu, 16, became India’s first shooter and the country’s first female athlete to win a gold medal at the Youth Olympics.
She qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the 10m pistol event in May 2019 after finishing fourth at the ISSF World Cup in Munich. When she was leading in the finals of the 25m pistol event, her pistol jammed, causing her to forfeit owing to her gun not working.
