Kiki Dee’s real name was Pauline Matthews. She was born on March 6, 1947, in Bradford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England. She is 75 years old. Her religion is Christianity. She won a local talent show at the age of 10 and she began working in show business at the age of 16. She worked at Boots in Bradford during the daytime and at the night, she would sing songs along with a dance band called Leeds. Impressed with her singing, Kiki Dee was invited to London to do the Audition and she joined Fontana Records for a solo album, in 1963.

In 1963, Kiki Dee released her first single Early Night. Then she released ‘why don’t run away from you” in 1966, which became a hit on Radio London. In 1996, she appeared in the hit comedy, ‘Doctor in Cover by singing “Take a Look at Me”. in 1968, She did her debut album, “I’m Kiki Dee”. She remained popular on the Northern soul circuit for her 1968 release,” On a Magic Carpet Ride” Much of her record works for Fontana Records, were released on January  24, 2011, on the CD compilation” I’m Kiki Dee”.

She was a regular performer of cover versions on BBC Radio.  She appeared with a group of session singers in the sing-along series, One More Time. In 1971, she appeared in The Benny Hill Show, singing “You have made me so very happy”. She became a popular name in the UK, after she signed with Elton John’s label, the Rocket Record Company. In 1976, she replaced Dusty Springfield for the recording of a duet with John, ” Don’t go breaking my heart”. It became a hit and reached no.1 in both U.S and U.K . Her single comeback album “Star” which came out in 1981 became the theme song for the talent show Opportunity Knocks. In 1985, she performed a reprising ” Don’t Go Breaking My Heart” with John at Live Aid.

In 1993, she did backing vocals for “The One”, “True Love” and “Duets”. She also released the live album Almost Naked with Carmelo Luggeri in the year1995. In 1998, she did “Where Rivers Meet” and  The Walk Of Faith in 2005. . In 2013, on Spellbound Records, Dee and Luggeri released ” A Place Where I Can Go”. She was nominated in 1989 for the Best Actress in a Musical category at Olivier Awards. She performed another duet with Elton John in 1993 named True Love, a cover version of Cole Potter which became no.2 in the UK. She is notable for her 12 albums, 3 EPs, and 40 singles.
