Cowherd was born in the town of Aberdeen in the state of Washington. His dad, Charles, was an optician, and his mom, Patricia (d. 2014), was a housewife who moved to the United States when she was 14 years old. Marlene, his older sister, is his only sibling. Cowherd was born and raised in Grayland, Washington, a small fishing village about 130 miles south of Seattle.
