She represents both the tribes where the Gwich’in are the Athabaskan speaking first nations people of Canada and an Alaska Native people. Furthermore, Oglala Dakota is one of the seven subtribes of the Dakota people found in South Dakota. Quannah proudly symbolises her tribe and its customs and has been doing so for her whole fashion career. She has spent her early childhood in Arizona, Mongolia, and New Mexico before returning to her maternal homelands in Alaska at the age of 6. She lived in Kenny Lake and then Fairbanks. She has spoken on climate action and indigenous rights at a number of events and panels. Chasinghorse celebrating indigo recently made an appearance in fashion and promoted sustainable indigenous brands.
