However, he retired from radio in 2014, but he couldn’t stay out of it and rejoined the all-new Hot 91.9FM in Johannesburg, initially just doing a Saturday morning show from 9 am–noon, but eventually coming back to radio full time and also doing Monday to Friday 9 am–noon.

For his amazing performance, he won an MTN Radio Award for Best Weekend Radio Show, the Liberty Radio Award for the Best Daytime Show in South Africa, and was inducted into the South African Radio Awards Hall of Fame for his contribution to the radio industry. Mark appeared in a number of Television Shows such as “Big Brother South Africa 1”, “Big Brother South Africa 2”, “Big Brother Africa” and “power of Ten”. Pilgrims have suffered from different types of Cancer all their life. He initially suffered from stage 3 Testicular Cancer which was discovered in 1988. However, he fought through his condition and later on became a motivational speaker where he talked about how overcoming cancer helped him and changed his life. Later on, in 2008, he suffered from a heart attack in his doctor’s office, and even though his heart was permanently damaged, his life was saved. His Testicular Cancer was a bad case that spread to his lungs and heart. However, he died on 5th March 2023 at the age of 53 while suffering from stage 4 Lung Cancer.
