Currently, along with singing, she is pursuing her graduation from Kolkata, West Bengal itself. According to her mother, she has a melodious voice from childhood and she used to sing at Durga Pooja and Saraswati Pooja functions. She always wanted a career in music. Arunita Kanjilal made her debut as a singer in a very little age by the show named SA RE GA MA PA L’IL CHAMPS in the year 2013 when she was just 9 years old. She was the winner of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa l’il champs, 2013. It was after the show that she became confident in her musical skills and firmly decided that she will become a singer only and nothing else. Arunita Kanjilal was one of the Top 10 contestants and finalists of Indian Idol in 2021. After this show, she also got to work with many big Bollywood celebrities. As her first music performance on Indian Idol, she sang the song “Ae Re Pawan” and completely impressed the judges Neha Kakkar, Vishal Dadlani and Himesh Reshammiya.
