She used to attend Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois but later on transferred to the University of Mississippi and started playing for the Ole Miss Rebels track team.
Later on, she is recorded as the first American junior athlete to throw exceeding eighteen meters. She proceeded to develop her American junior records and broke the Missouri Valley Conference record.
Raven Saunders is known for being one of the best athletes and won the shot put titles at the 2016 Southeastern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships while in Ole Miss Rebels. It is to be noted that she placed 12th at the 2016 NCAA Indoor Championships and won the shot put titles at the 2016 Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships as well as the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
She has the title for breaking many records one of them was the 23-year-old outdoor championship record. She broke it with her shot put throw of 19.33 m (63 ft 5 in) in 2016.
Senior career
Raven Saunders made her international debut at the 2014 World Junior Championships. It was in Athletics in Eugene, Oregon, and took the silver medal behind Guo Tianqian of China. The following year, Raven held eighth place at the 2015 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Later on, she stood at the top of the podium at the 2015 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. Here, she also set a new record.
