Sue Clarke has been heartbroken since her daughter died in 2020. She became emotional during an Inquest statement and revealed that her daughter’s ex-husband, Rowan Baxter, had called his children the night before they were brutally murdered in a petrol fire. He used the FaceTime app to call them. Rowan cried a lot while talking with his kids, according to Sue Clarke. Sue revealed that her daughter’s husband had won the hearts of everyone in her family. She didn’t like him at first, though. His behavior changed after the birth of his daughter Hannah, and he began misbehaving with everyone. Hannah Clarke encountered Rowan Baxter, a New Zealander 11 years her senior when she was 19 years old. Baxter, a former rugby league player, had been married to another woman previously. In 2011, he proposed to Clarke, and in 2012, they married in Kingscliff, New South Wales. Aaliyah, 6 years old, Laianah, 4 years old, and Trey, 3 years old, were their three children. Following the murders, reports surfaced that Clarke had been abused emotionally, physically, sexually, and financially by Baxter during their marriage. He had declined to sign a settlement agreement offered by Clarke, enabling him 165 days of custody per year, despite his lawyer’s advice in mediation.
Death of Hannah
After being discovered in Rowan Baxter’s phone, a note that clearly defines Hannah’s ex-husband Rowan Baxter’s physical state was presented to the judges. Rowan Baxter has warned Hannah in the note that he will be unable to bear being separated from his 3 kids. Hannah and her children were living apart from Rowan Baxter at the time. Baxter set fire to the inner surface of the car Clarke was going to drive to drop their children off at school on February 19, 2020, quickly killing their children. Clarke was able to escape the car and told witnesses that Baxter had poured gasoline on her. Before stabbing himself to death, Baxter did stop pedestrians from putting out the fire while the car was burning. Clarke was quickly moved to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with 97 percent body burns, but she died there later that night. On March 9, 2020, Clarke and her children were laid to rest. Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Australia, and Annastacia Palaszczuk, the Premier of Queensland, both attended the funeral. Later, Baxter had his own funeral.
