Gal and his stallion Totilas are named rock stars in the horse world for winning multiple world records in International Competitions. In 2009, Gal and Totilas broke the Anky Van Grunsven world record in Grand Prix Freestyle with an 89.50% mark at Hickstead, England, following another record score of 90.75% in the same discipline at the European’s Championship. After their first Grand Prix Competition, Gal understood that Totilas was a special horse as he became a truly dominant rider after competing with Totilas.
At their first competition outside Europe, in Lexington, Kentucky, Gal and Totilas were overwhelming favorites in the 2010 FEI World Games. In 2015, Gal also competed at European Dressage Championships in Aachen winning a gold medal in team dressage. In 2016 Gal, along with the other gold medal winners carried the coffin during the funeral of Dutch national dressage coach Wim Ernes who died on 1 November 2016.
