Colin Turkington was born on born 21 March 1982 in Portadown, Nothern Ireland. He began his racing career in the Ulster Karting series in 1993. In the years 1996 and 1997, he competed in autograss, a form of amateur motor racing in Britain. In 1998, Colin moved on to the Northern Irish Metro Championship and there he won his first title. Colin’s first BTCC drive was in a year-old MG ZS in the year 2002. He also won his first race at Brands Hatch and finished 8th in the Drivers’ Championship. In 2004, he took the second win of his BTCC career at Mondello Park. Turkington’s first win of the season came on the fourth weekend of the championship at Croft in the year 2007. He also finished every race in the 2008 season in the top 10.
In 2010, Colin Turkington competed in three rounds of the 2010 World Touring Car Championship series (WTCC) driving a BMW for WSR at Algarve, Brands Hatch and Brno. Turkington competed in three more WTCC rounds for Wiechers-Sport in the year 2011. Colin He finished 5th in the 2013 Drivers’ Championship after taking five race wins. He stayed with the team for the 2014 season, taking eight race wins and eventually winning his second BTCC Drivers’ title. For the 2015 season, Turkington switched to Team BMR after winning the championship with eBay Motors in 2014.
