Christine Sinclair was born on June 12, 1983, in Burnaby, British Columbia. She was born to Bill and Sandra Sinclair. Sinclair took interest in the sport and began playing soccer at the age of four for an under-7 team. Her father and two uncles were also football players and have played professionally. Christine has been very athletic since a young age and has also played basketball and baseball as a teenager.

Christine Sinclair was chosen to represent British Columbia’s under-14 girl’s all-star soccer team at age 11. She has led club team Burnaby Girls Soccer Club to six league titles, five provincial titles, and two top-five national finishes. She attended Burnaby South Secondary School where she led the soccer team to three league championships. At the age of 15, she represented matches of the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Portland, Oregon. She contested for Canada’s under-18 national team before initiating her debut at the senior level at age 16 in 2000.

Christine Sinclair has briefly played for FC Gold Pride and Western New York Flash in the Women’s Professional Soccer (WPS). Her achievements include CONCACAF champion, two-time Olympic bronze medalist, and 14-time winner of the Canada Soccer Player of the Year award. Sinclair has marked her name in history by having the most international goals scored for men or women. She has scored a total of 187 goals. It is also to be noted that she has one of the most-capped active international footballers with 300 caps. Furthermore, she is the second footballer regardless of her gender to score at five World Cup editions, preceded by Marta.

Christine Sinclair has played more than 20 seasons with the senior national team. Sinclair has participated in five FIFA Women’s World Cups and four Olympic Football Tournaments. She is currently playing in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
