He had ten siblings ahead of him and he was the eleventh and the youngest among them all. His indigenous mother Dorothy, a Noongar from southwest Western Australia raised Barry. She raised him and all his other siblings as a single mother. It was because Barry was only six years old when his father Edward passed away. Barry’s father was born in England and had shifted to Australia to settle in.

Furthermore, he always had a very lost relationship with his siblings and mother as they were too older than him. However, as time passed, Football became a major part of Cable’s youth. He was only nine years old when football caught his attention for the first time. And, by the time he turned eleven, he had started to devote all his time and focus to football. Barry Cable’s Playing Career

Cable made his first-ever WANFL debut in 1962 with the Perth Football Club. Then, in the year 1964, Cable earned the Sandover Medal as the league’s fairest and finest player. He was also chosen for the All-Australian squad and received the Tassie Medal as the finest player at the 1966 Australian National Football Carnival. Furthermore, he also participated in Perth’s first of three straight premierships that year. Barry participated in each of the games and earned the Simpson Medal for best player in the Grand Final as well as a second Sandover Medal in 1968.

After spending an additional three seasons in Perth, Cable made his way back to North Melbourne for the 1974 campaign. There he also served as the club’s captain-coach in 1972 and 1973. He played in two premierships during his final four years at the club, in 1975 and 1977. However, soon he left the team to accept the captain-coach position at East Perth and moved back to Perth.

In Orange Grove, a rural area outside of Perth, Cable decided to start farming one day, out of the blue. He was playing for East Perth at the time. One day, while working, he tried to start a Massey Ferguson tractor on his property on October 25, 1979. However, somehow, he simply lost control of the machine, and his right leg became hooked beneath the back wheel. Because of such fatality, one side of the bone of his leg got ripped out severely.

Cable was rushed in need of immediate care at the Royal Perth Hospital. The process was very traumatic, but he astounded everyone with his bravery in the early going. Cable even attended a brief news conference at the hospital the day after the tragedy happened. During the first operation, surgeons removed a significant amount of foreign material, such as fuel, during a four-hour procedure. The order of suppression was rejected in advance of a five-day civil trial that is scheduled to begin on Wednesday. However, it did not stop there, because in 1973, when she was in her late teens and he was around 30, Cable sexually assaulted her again. She is also asking for compensation for the psychiatric trauma that she claims she had as a result of Cable’s ongoing sexual harassment and behavior.

The case has been going on since 2019 and yet, he has never been charged,  despite every accusation. The woman filed her lawsuit in 2019 when there were changes to the law in Western Australia. The court removed the deadline for those who claim they have experienced sexual abuse to file a lawsuit. As the case proceeded, the victim’s mother’s testimony was also pre-recorded by the court in September 2020.

The mother described a time when Cable allegedly stripped off and entered her home with nothing at all and was completely naked. In her testimony to the court, the mother also mentioned how her daughter had informed her and her husband about the alleged abuse. There has been absolutely no proof to know which party is telling the truth. There is no evidence against Barry yet, and neither is there any proof that the unnamed woman is lying as well.
