Asim Munir Birthday, Nationality, Hometown

Asim Munir’s age is not known and there is no information about his exact date of birth. He was born and brought up in Pakistan which is a small Asian country. His Parents and his family must also be from the same country, though there is no information on their identity or which state they are from. His full name is Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah.

Asim Munir Military Career

Asim Munir at the beginning of his military career did his training at the Officers Training School in Mangla. He was from the 17th course. After that, he was commissioned into the 23rd Battalion of the Frontier Force Regiment.

After these initial experiences and training, he started his military Career in 1986 when he served as a second Lieutenant. His constant good performance and valor took him on a straight path upwards promoting him from Second Lieutenant, to Lieutenant, to Captain, Major, to Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel. He then became a one-star general or brigadier and today he is a 4 star General. He served as director general of Military Intelligence. Munir also served as the commander of the Troops deployed in the Northern Areas of Pakistan. Soon after, he was promoted to the rank of DG in the Inter-Services Intelligence in 2018. After his tenure as the DG ISI, Munir was transferred and appointed as Corps Commander of XXX Corps in Gujranwala.

Asim Munir Next Army Chief of Pakistan 

Asim Munir served in the office of the Commander Force Command Northern Areas from October 2014, after succeeding Major General Hafiz Masroor Ahmad. On December 2016, he was succeeded by Major General Saqib Mehmood Malik. It was then that he was promoted to the post of DG ISI in December 2016, after succeeding Major General Nadeem Zaki Manj. He held this office till October 2019 after which he was promoted to the position of Director General of the ISI. He served his tenure under President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan till 16th June 2019. The next day, he was made the commander of the XXX Corps and he served in that position till October 2019.

From October 2021, he has been serving in the position of Quartermaster General and will continue his office till 29th November 2022. He has already been selected to be the next Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, a position of great honor. He is yet to assume office and we wish him all the best.

Asim Munir Awards

During his tenure, he earned several awards and titles. In 1990, he earned his first award “Qarardad-e-Pakistan Tamgha” which was a resolution Day Golden Jubilee Medal. He was awarded the “Tamgha-e-Salgirah” Award in 1997, which was an Independence Day Golden Jubilee Award. In 1998, he earned the “Tamgha-e-Baqa” (Nuclear Test Medal), and “Tamgha-e-Istaqlal Pakistan”(Escalation with India medal) in 2002. During the Siachen Glacier Clasp, his performance earned him “Tamgha-e-Diffa” which is a General Service Medal. He earned the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz award(Crescent of excellence) or the Showrd of Honor in 2018.
