On 2nd October 2022, Sergio Perez won Singapore Grand Prix. Although despite breaking the safety car rules three times throughout the race and receiving a five-second penalty, Sergio Perez managed to retain his lead and win the Singapore Grand Prix. Sergio’s apparent violation of the rules governing the safety car was going to be looked into after the race, it was also highlighted during the race. The FIA record states that Sergio and a team official were called before the stewards for “not keeping within ten car lengths of the Safety Car”

Speed and Racing were in the blood of Sergio Perez as he was born into a family with a racing background. He was the youngest child of Antonio Pérez Garibay and Maril Mendoza, he was born in born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He also has an elder brother Antonio, a former stock car racer who participated in the NASCAR Mexico Series, and an older sister Paola.
Sergio Perez Racing Career
Karting
Sergio Perez started Karting when he was just 6 years old back in 1996. He was very talented since his childhood. He won four victories in the junior division and finished second in the division. He competed in the 1997 karting Youth Class as the youngest driver in the division, earning a victory, five podiums and finishing fourth in the championship.
Slowly Sergio surged his way up to 125cc in the go-kart and even finished as national runner-up. He kept racing go-kart until the year 2003 and participated in the 2004 Skip Barber National Championship held in the United States. He finished eleventh in the championship while driving for a Telmex-sponsored team in Mexico.
In order to race in the German Formula BMW ADAC championship, Pérez relocated to Europe in 2005. For four months, he was permitted to reside in the restaurant managed by his team manager. Driving for 4speed Media, he came in fourteenth place overall in the competition and advanced to sixth place the following year.
He competed in the A1 Grand Prix in 2006 and Formula three in 2007 and the GP2 series in 2008 and 2009
Formula One (2011 and 2012)
In his first Formula One tournament, he finished seventh in his first race, at the Australian Grand Prix. In the 2012 Australian Grand Prix, he finished in the 13th position due to excessively worn tyres. In the same, he got second place in the Malaysian Grand Prix.

In 2014 Perez got the first position at force India beating Daniel Ricciardi. He also got his contract with force India till 2016 and even counties till the 2017 season.

Racing Point
Racing Point Force India changed its name to Racing Point for the 2019 campaign while keeping Pérez as its driver. Lance Stroll, a former Williams driver, joined him on the squad. In the season Perez finished the campaign in the top ten of the standings with 52 points, easily surpassing colleague Stroll. Pérez has extended his contract with Racing Point, and he was expected to compete with them through the end of 2022. However, he announced that he would be leaving the team in 2022.
Red Bull
In 2021, Pérez competed for Red Bull Racing, taking Alex Albon’s place who had been reduced to the position of reserve and test driver, and teaming up with Max Verstappen. He finished at 5th position in the same season.
Pérez continued to work with Red Bull in 2022. He extended his Red Bull contract by two years in May 2022, making him eligible to compete for the team in the 2024 season.
