Due to this, he was placed seventh in the UCI World Ranking. He was also the first Canadian man in 20 years to crack the top 10 in the event. At the 2015 Pan Am Games, Barrette became a triple medalist. In January 2016, he won his career’s first World Cup medal keirin silver in Hong Kong. He made his Olympic debut in the keirin at Rio 2016. He won another two World Cup Silver medals in February 2017 in Los Angeles and in October 2018 on the home track in Milton.
