Charanjit Singh Channi is elected as the Chief Minister of Punjab after the retirement of Capt. Amrinder Singh. He belongs to Indian National Congress CM from Punjab. Charanjit Singh Channi has been chosen as the new Punjab Chief Minister replacing. He was a previous Minister of Technical Educational & industrial Training in the Punjab government. On 19 September 2021, he became Chief Minister of Punjab after the retirement of Amarinder Singh. He holds the position of the MLA from the Chamkaur Sahib Assembly Constituency. He belongs to the Dalit society. It consists of almost 1/3rd of Punjab’s population. Channi was a municipal councilor for three terms. Later, he became president of municipal council Kharar for two terms. He was then chosen to the Punjab Vidhan Sabha from Chamkaur Sahib Consistency for the primary time in 2007. He was again chosen in 2012 and then again in 2017. In 2018, a video pointed Channi flipping a coin to decide between two candidates to be the lecturer. The BJP as well as Shiromani Akali Dal collected on voters to dismiss him. Channi said that both candidates were similar and recommended the toss themselves. He performed an elephant ride as directed by his astrologer. Channi is claimed to have constructed an unauthorized road in a propitious layout on the advice of his horoscopist, which was destroyed by the Chandigarh authorities. He also is stated to have obeyed the advice of his horoscopist and rode an elephant at his home. Sukhpal Khaira of the Aam Aadmi Party blamed Channi and his nephew for engagement in illicit mining. Channi responded that the pictures cited were from public functions. He also stated that his family has no association with mining. As the minister of technical knowledge, Channi was attacked for recommending the transfer of an Indian Administrative Service manager “whom he didn’t like”. In another case, he was indicted for sending offensive messages to a female IAS officer, Kavita Singh.
