The young cricketer was bought by Rajasthan Royals for INR 2.40 Crore ahead of  IPL 2020. Rajasthan Royals retain the young opener in IPL 2022 for a surprisingly high amount of INR 4 Crore. The left-hander has the experience of 23 T20 matches in which he has scored 429 matches at an average of 19.50 and a strike rate of 128.82. Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer expressed that he is surprised with the decision of RR to retain Jaiswal. RR’s Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara has hailed Jaiswal as a youngster with tremendous courage and determination. His father Bhupendra Jaiswal is an owner of a small hardware store and his mother Kanchan Jaiswal is a housewife. Yashasvi is the youngest among the four children. At the tender age of 10, Yashasvi moved to Dadar, Mumbai to receive cricket training at Azad Maidan. In the Kalbadevi neighborhood, he works low-grade work and in return they let him stay in the dairy shop. The owner of the dairy shop expelled Jaiswal as he was unable to provide much help in between his training. Having no roof Jaiswal stayed in a tent with the groundsmen at the Maiden, he sold panipuri to make the ends meet. After 3 years of a hard life, Jaiswal’s cricketing talent was spotted in December 2013 by Jwala Singh. Jwala ran a cricket academy in Santacruz. Jwala Singh took Jaiswal under his wing and provided him with a place to stay. He then become Yashasvi’s legal guardian and obtained his power of attorney.

Jaiswal’s career kickstarted in 2015, he scored 319 not out in a Giles shield match. Jaiswal was recognized by the Limca Book of Records for an all-around record in school cricket.  He was then selected in the Mumbai U-16 squad followed by India U-19. Jaiswal was the highest run-scorer (318 runs) and player of the tournament in 2018. In December 2019, he was named to India’s squad for the 2020 U-19 Cricket World cup.  He became the leading scorer in the tournament and scored a century against Pakistan in the semi-final.

In January 2019, Jaiswal made his first-class debut in the Ranji Trophy.  On 28 September, he made his List A debut for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare trophy. Jaiswal became the youngest double centurion in the history of List A cricket at 17 years.

In the 2020 IPL auction, he was brought by Rajasthan Royals. Jaiswal made his half-century against CSK on 2nd October 2021.
