 Early Life of Will Bayley

Will Bayley was born on 17 January 1988 in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. His parents have now divorced and we only know his mother Chrissie Bayley. Following then, Chrissy has remarried. It was his grandmother who purchased him his first table tennis bat in his childhood.

Will Bayley was diagnosed with cancer at the tender age of seven. The Paralympics committee classifies his liability as C7. According to his Paralympics interview, Will Bayley was born with arthrogryposis, a rare congenital disorder that affected all four of his limbs. As a process of treatment, he went through multiple operations at Great Ormond Street Hospital from the time when he was just 3 months old. At the age of 7, he was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and returned to same the hospital for chemotherapy.  It was only in his recovery period when his love for table tennis grew.

The athlete participated in the 17th season of Strictly Come Dancing in 2019. He danced with his partner with professional dancer Janette Manrara for merely 5 episodes. Disaster knocked on their door in the 6th week when he suffered a knee injury. Bayley was unable to perform and therefore withdrew from the show in the 7th episode. Will Bayley is recently single. He earlier dated a adult film star named Fiona York. The couple was in a relationship for 3 years and even had a child together.  Amidst all the differences, Will Bayley regularly visits his child.

The career of Will 

At the age of 12, Will Bayley joined the Byng Hall Table Tennis Club in Tunbridge Wells and went on to represent Kent’s able-bodied men’s team. From the age of 17, he has stayed and trained full-time at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield. He also represented Great Britain at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China, where he was knocked out. In the year 2009, he won gold medals at the Czech and German opens,  following in 201 he secured gold in Lignano and Brazil. Bayley secured a gold medal in the singles at the 2011 European Championships in Split, Croatia. He also won a silver medal in the men’s Team. He won a silver medal in the London 2012 Summer Paralympics and a gold at the Rio 2016 Summer Paralympics.  Will again won a silver at the delayed Tokyo 2020 games, his third successive Paralympic medal.
