Taylor Ruck was born on May 28, 2000, in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Her family shifted to Scottsdale, Arizona, U.S., even before she turned one year old. She does not hold American citizenship. She usually comes to spend time in Canada while visiting family in Kelowna, Winnipeg, and Vancouver. Taylor Ruck Career

Her career has been highlighted by her huge amount of medals. Ruck acquired eight medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games which were held in Gold Coast, Australia. Among her, eight medals she has one gold, five silver, and two bronze. Few of them were tied her with three other athletes for the most all-time at a single Commonwealth Games. This also made her the Canadian female athlete with the most number of medals ever at a single Commonwealth Games. Ruck is also the all-time leading medallist at the FINA World Junior Swimming Championships. She won nine gold, two silver, and two bronze over the period of the 2015 World Junior Swimming Championships and 2017 junior championships.

Ruck got the gold medal in the 100-meter freestyle at the 2015 FINA World Junior Swimming Championships which were held in Singapore. This broke the Championships record in both the heats and the final. She also won the 200-meter freestyle and again broke the championship record.

Olympics

Taylor Ruck was suffering from bronchitis during the trials for Canada’s Olympic team. She did not originally qualify, but officials took her illness into the report and selected her to the team for the 2016 Summer Olympics.

She went on to win her second bronze medal as a part of the 4×200 meters freestyle relay team. Next, she competed in the 4×100 meters medley. She swam the anchor leg in the trials before being substituted for the finals, where the Canadian team placed fifth.

Following her Olympic success in 2016, Ruck swam in the Canadian trials. They were the trials to contest at the 2017 World Aquatics Championships. There she was not able to place higher than fourth in any of the events. This meant that she failed to qualify for the Canadian team in any of the events and missed worlds.

In 2020 she won the most medals by any Canadian at a single Pan Pacific championship. After a fantastic meet and an enormous season, Ruck was selected for the 2020 Olympics.
