After completing his masters in Mass Communication, Rohit started his career through print media. Like many new journalists and bound with the technology of his time, Sardana tried to climb the ladder of success in print media. After the imminent lack of opportunities, Rohit left the print media and put his focus on trying to be a TV anchor. Initially, he was hired by a radio station for verbal news reading.
After coming to Delhi, he joined an internship with E-TV and worked with the company for some time as a VT- Editor. After 5 months he started working as a TV NEws Presenter. His TV NEws show Taal Thok Ke got really famous and he received many praises for that. After 2017, he left Zee News and joined the Aaj Tak media house. On this channel, he hosted a TV Show called Dangal.

The TV News anchor Rohit was married. His wife is Pramila Dixit. There are two daughters to the couple.
After being tested Covid Positive, Sardana was admitted to a private hospital in Noida. Ultimately he died of a heart attack due to coronavirus on the 30th April. Many politicians including PM Modi expressed their grief on this untimely death of the News anchor.
