Beginning in 2018, Miller participated in USHL games with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders USHL. He joined the team for the whole 2018–19 campaign after appearing in just two games during the 2017–18 campaign. He received a call-up for the 2018 World Junior A Challenge to the American men’s national junior ice hockey team during the season. Miller was moved to the Tri-City Storm following the conclusion of the 2018–19 USHL season. Miller was slated to join the Miami University Red Hawks for the 2019–20 season after committing to play for the team.
