Jarrod Skalde was born 26th of February in 1971 in Niagara Falls, Ontario in Canada. He got drafter by the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL) for its second round, 26th overall during the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. On October 7, 1990, he appeared in his debut NHL game. He recorded an assist in a 7-4 loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins, which ended up being his only NHL game during the 1990-91 season. Most of the 1991-92 season in the AHL, Jarrod Skalde spent his time with Utica, where he had scored 20 goals and 40 points in the 62 games he played. With a game winning goal against Mike Richter of the New York Rangers, Jarrod made his first NHL goal in a 5-4 victory game. In Switzerland, he signed with HC Lausanne of the National League A (NLA). In 2003 on July 17, Jarrod Skalde signed up with the Dallas Stars and got assigned to the Utah Grizzlies. On July 2004, he is known to have signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning, the defending Stanley Cup champions, but ended up not playing as the NHL season was cancelled. During 2006-2007, Jarrod joined the Leksands IF of the Swedish Elite League (SEL). In 2007-07, he signed up with the Oji Eagles of the Asia League Ice Hockey (ALIH), which was a team based in Tomakomai in Japan. The next season Jarrod Skalde played along with the HK Acroni Jesenice. He scored one goal in a total of three games. His coaching career began when he joined the Bloomington PrairieThunder of the IHL as their player-assistant coach for the 2007-08 season. He worked along with the head coach Derek Booth. Later in the 2008-09 season, he was titled as the head coach for the club. Bloomington finished the season in fifth place with a record of 29–40–2–5 , earning 65 points. Later for the season of 2009-10, he returned to the team. On August 10 of 2010, he resigned from his post as the head coach of the club.
Jarrod’s Law Suit
During a team road trio in November 2018 to Providence , R.I., Clark Donatelli, the then-head coach, sexually assaulted Erin Skalde, who is now the ex-wife of Jarrod Skalde. Jarrod had complained a law suit against him for his actions. In the allegations, it was known that Clark Donatelli pulled her closer to him, put his arm around her and called her “sexy”. On groping her upper body, Erin pushed away but he tried to reach into her pants. Jarrod Skalde was not present at the time of the incident as he had left to get a car ride back to the team hotel. Later in May 2020, he was let go by the Penguins. It is believed that he was let go since he reported Donatelli.
