Jake Carlisle was chosen by Essendon with pick 24 in the 2009 National Draft. The Calder Cannons were the team he played within the TAC Cup and Craigieburn in the EDFL. He was also a representative of Vic Metro in the 2009 AFL National Under 18 Championships and later was part of the 2009 Premiership team.
Carlisle made his first appearance in Round 20 of the 2010 AFL season, against Collingwood. Though the team lost the team. He was a major factor for the Bombers’ starting out amazingly after Round 17 in 2013. In September 2015 he asked for a trade out of Essendon. It had been stated that during the season he had seemed embittered after the supplements scandal which proceeded to profoundly impact the club. He was finally chosen for St Kilda over Carlton as the club he wanted to be traded to from Essendon.
Carlisle was a part of 13 out of a possible 19 games when Covid interrupted the season. He was not able to play in the Saints’ semi-final game versus Richmond due to the birth of his third child.
