Rowan Baxter has warned Hannah in the note that he will be unable to bear being separated from his 3 kids. Hannah and her children were living apart from Rowan Baxter at the time. Baxter set fire to the inner surface of the car Clarke was going to drive to drop their children off at school on February 19, 2020, quickly killing their children. Clarke was able to escape the car and told witnesses that Baxter had poured gasoline on her. Before stabbing himself to death, Baxter did stop pedestrians from putting out the fire while the car was burning. Clarke was quickly moved to the Royal Brisbane Hospital with 97 percent body burns, but she died there later that night. On March 9, 2020, Clarke and her children were laid to rest. Scott Morrison, the Prime Minister of Australia, and Annastacia Palaszczuk, the Premier of Queensland, both attended the funeral. Later, Baxter had his own funeral.
