In the North American regional circuit, Curtis established an 18-5 record while winning the Welterweight Championships of CES MMA, Z Promotions, and Premier MMA Championship. Then, on June 12, 2018, Curtis received a request to compete against Sean Lally at Dana White’s Contender Series 9. He knocked out his opponent in the third round to win the fight, but he later decided to retire because he was not given a UFC contract. It was revealed that Curtis had come out of retirement and signed a multi-fight contract with ARES FC on April 14, 2020. On April 3, 2020, at ARES FC 2, he was supposed to face Nassourdine Imavov in his promotional debut.
