03 July 1999, Kargil War

Within early May 1999, Pakistani forces had intruded across the LOC, in the Mushkoh, Drass, Kaksar, and Batalik sectors. The area of penetration across the LOC diversified from 4 to 8 km in every sector. In many essential points, artillery or air power none could dislodge the enemy forces. Enemy forces were not in visible range. The Indian forces were left with no option but to send up their soldiers for direct assaults which were slow. One such mission was also planned in the Batalik sector and 1/11 GR was assigned that task to take charge of Khalubar.
