Armstead played in all 3 games as a freshman in 2012, earning one start. He completed the 2012 season with 26 tackles and a half-sack. During the spring he entered the Ducks basketball team, where he redshirted during his first year. Armstead recreated in 13 games as a sophomore and in 2013, registering 15 tackles and one sack. During the spring he re-joined the basketball team. He played in a single game, before discontinuing to focus on football. Armstead yielded back to the football team his junior season in 2014.

Armstead was inept to regard the movement camp and organized team activities until Oregon’s school year had been completed due to the NFL’s procedure that restricts newcomers entering teams until their year is officially concluded.
