The name of her father and mother are Mike Drews and Carrie Drews. She has two siblings, Derek, who played basketball at Western Michigan University, and a sister, Erin, who is an artist.

She has been playing since a very young age. She started playing volleyball for Mizuno Gold and Circle City Gold. She has stated that she has been a competitive cheerleader before.

She has graduated and finished her studies at Purdue University in Hospitality and Tourism Management in 2015.

It was recently announced that she announced her engagement with her long-term boyfriend Tanner Schumacher on June 15, 2020.

High school and college years

Andrea Drews started playing indoor club volleyball in 2008 with Network Juniors. She switched to a few clubs and concluded her youth club career with Northern Indiana Volleyball Academy.

Purdue University

Andrea opened her sports career in school tournaments and after rising as one of the nation’s top prep players at Penn High, she went to Purdue University’s women’s volleyball team. Here she took part in the Division I NCAA from 2012 to 2015.

Drews gained an Honorable Mention at the AVCA All-American in 2014. Furthermore, she was picked AVCA Second-Team All-America in 2015 as a senior at Purdue University.

International career

Andrea Drews has played for many teams in many different countries. In 2016 she played for Indias de Mayagüez in the Puerto Rican cup and she was a part of Criollas de Caguas in the same league. From 2017 to2018 she played in the Italian circuit and was a part of SAB Volley Legnano and Pomí Casalmaggiore. After this, she headed over to China and played there for a while. Though she has been playing in the Japanese team since 2019.

She has achieved many amazing feats in the Japanese Vleagues. She plays in the V-League Division 1. She plays for JT Marvelous who emerged as the Champions of the 2019-20 Japan V.League Division 1 (V1). They took down some great players with her on the team. She was awarded as the Best Opposite and Most Valuable Player. In 2019, she remained on the JT Marvelous and demolished the V.League Division 1 again, and won a gold.

Andrea Drews has been a major part of the America team in the FIVB tournaments. She has played in the 2017 Women’s Pan-American Volleyball Cup, USA Volleyball Cup, FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix, and Volleyball Women’s World Grand Champions Cup. She has helped America win in many of these matches. She also played in the 2018 and 2019 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League as a part of the American National team.

This year she was selected to represent the USA on the 12 player roster to the Olympics.
