Alex Galchenyuk Wiki, Bio, Age, Contract, Stats, Avalanche, Salary, Wife: Alexander Alexandrovich Galchenyuk is an American ice hockey forward player, well known by his short name Alex Galchenyuk. He was born on 12 February 1994, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the United States and is currently 28 years old(in 2022). Most recently he played for Colorado Avalanche and  Arizona Coyotes in the national hockey league(NHL). He has previously played for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiens.

In the U16 Chicago Young Americans Alex played his final minor hockey and established himself as a star player with 44 goals and 43 assists in his final season. Alex Galchenyuk’s coach Bruno Bragagnolo compared having another talent like him play for his team to the odds of winning the lottery. As a result of his performance, Sarnia Sting drafted him number one in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection Draft.

Atlant Moscow Oblast also chose Galchenyuk with the number 25 overall pick in the 2011 KHL Junior Draft, on which Alex Galchenyuk’s father, Alexander expressed his anger against Dinamo Minsk of the KHL not selecting him in the first round.

Alex Galchenyuk performed exceptionally in that season with 31 goals and 52 assists for 83 total points and gets selected for OHL 1st All-Rookie team alongside teammate Nail Yakupov. Montreal Canadiens: Alex debuted for Montreal Canadiens in the 2012-13 season and played for them till the 2017-18 campaign. Alex scored his first goal in NHL on January 22, 2013, against Scott Clemmensen of the Florida Panthers. He was one of the successful players who played for the Montreal Canadiens.

Season 2015-16: Scored second-most goals(behind Pacioretty) in that season for Montreal Canadiens with 30 goals in the season and also signed a contract extension with the Canadiens for two years at $5.6 million.

Season 2017-18: Galchenyuk scored 51 points in his sixth season with the Canadiens in the following year.

Arizona Coyotes: Galchenyuk was sent by the Montreal Canadiens to the Arizona Coyotes on June 15, 2018, for Max Domi. Galchenyuk participated in 72 games during his debut season with the Coyotes, scoring 19 goals and dishing out 22 assists.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Galchenyuk and Pierre-Olivier Joseph were transferred to the Pittsburgh Penguins on June 29, 2019, in exchange for Phil Kessel, and Dane Birks. In the 2019–20 season, Alex suffered from a lower-body injury and on October 9, 2019, he was put on injured reserve. With only 5 goals and 17 points, Galchenyuk struggled to replicate his prior form in his 45 appearances with the Penguins.

Minnesota Wild: In February 2020, Alex was bought by  Minnesota Wild, in exchange for Jason Zucker.

Ottawa Senators: Galchenyuk signed a one-year contract, for $1.05 million with the Ottawa Senators on October 28, 2020, to become a free agent and join his fifth NHL team. Galchenyuk was a solid contributor for the Senators to start the pandemic-delayed 2020–21 season. On January 19, 2021, Galchenyuk entered the lineup and scored in the Senators’ 4-3 overtime loss to the Winnipeg Jets. He played in just 8 of the Senators’ first 15 games and scored nothing in his last 7 appearances.

Toronto Maple Leafs: In February 2021, he was traded to Toronto Maple Leafs, he finished the season with 12 points in 26 games with the Maple Leafs and contributed to the team’s divisional victory. Galchenyuk scored four points in six playoff games, but the Leafs ultimately lost to Galchenyuk’s former team, the Montreal Canadiens, in the opening round.

Return to Arizona: Galchenyuk, who had been traded by the Coyotes in the offseason of 2018–19, made his return to Arizona on September 21, 2021, when he was given a professional tryout contract(PTO). Galchenyuk and the Coyotes agreed to a one-year contract.

After his father’s hockey career in Germany, Italy, and Russia, the family moved to Europe when Galchenyuk was four years old.
