Aditya started his career as management trainee in Mahindra Ltd in Mumbai and then he moved to Citibank and there he served for 21 years and in 1992 he became CEO of Citibank in Malaysia and then he came back to India as Managing Director of HDFC in 1994 and in his tenure as MD he led two major mergers in banking industry as Times Bank and Centurion Bank of Punjab with HDFC bank and his tenure got finished on 26 October 2020.
During the financial year 2018-19, Aditya had received 4% cut on his fixed salary. Aditya Puri has led the bank for 24 years and received a performance bonus of Rs 92 lakh in FY17. There is a small dip in overall remuneration to Rs 9.6 crore in FY18 from Rs 10 crore in FY17 despite the bank’s net profit rising 20 per cent to Rs 17,487 crore.
